Monthly Meeting with guest speaker Gary Davis

Title: Conservation and Volunteering in Post-Covid Period

Info: Gary Davis serves as the Conservation Lead for the SCTU Council and MBTU. He is also the Trout-in-the-Classroom lead for the SCTU Council and Greenville County. Gary will bring us up todate on conservation projects in the upstate and the need for volunteers to support those projects. Hear about:

  1. The highly successful completion of the brook trout restoration at the headwaters of Matthews Creek,

  2. The dam removal and future work on Pigpen Branch (a brook trout restoration project),

  3. The status of the effort to make a one mile section of the N. Saluda River into a stocked trout stream,

  4. Preparations for training volunteers to perform barrier assessments (mainly culvert surveys) to perform assessments on hundreds of sites on SCDNR and other state controlled lands in the upstate,

  5. Need for volunteers for the Trout-in-the-classroom program and other youth programs,

  6. Need for volunteers to help cleanup along Highway 11 and South Saluda River

  7. Finally, the status of volunteer support for stocking.
