Our May speaker will be William Wood from the SC Department of Natural Resources
William is a native of Clayton, North Carolina where he learned to love fishing and the outdoors. He is most passionate about surf fishing for Red Drum and anything toothy that will hit a tin but has also learned to love every other type of fishing he has tried his hand at…including a bit of trout fishing. William earned his B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences from North Carolina State University, then worked field seasons in North Carolina, Georgia, and even out in California removing introduced Brook Trout to help restore native Lahontan Cutthroat Trout (Oncorhynchus henshawi henshawi) in two Walker River tributary creeks. William then went on to earn his M.S. in Biology from Tennessee Technical University in Cookeville, Tennessee before coming to work for South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to be a regional Fisheries Biologist. Here he helps sample and manage the abundant and diverse fisheries found in the Upstate. When not at work William enjoys going fishing anywhere he can for anything that will bite a hook, smoking ribs at home, and going to Greenville Drive baseball games with his wife.
